LEWISTON – Margery Alice Bailey Strout, 88, passed away on Sunday, Oct. 21, at Marshwood Center.

She was born on Aug. 28, 1919, in Rutland, Vt., daughter of Roy Frederick Bailey and Jessie Edna Clark Bailey. She resided in Springfield, Vt., for the majority of her adult life. She was a resident of Montello Heights from 2000 to 2002.

She graduated from Rutland High School in 1938, attended school in Boston, Mass., to become a dental hygienist. After graduation from college, she moved to Springfield, Vt., where she worked as a waitress at the Springfield Diner and then worked at Fellows Gear Shaper Co. She married Norman George Strout on Aug. 12, 1950. He predeceased her in February 1995.

She loved nature, crafting, and baking wonderful treats. She was a member and active volunteer of the Springfield United Methodist Church since 1954. She served as a Cub Scout den mother.

She leaves behind a son, James Evans Strout and his partner, Paul L. Bessette, of Tampa, Fla.; a daughter, Nancy Strout Moyer and her husband, Michael P. Moyer; a granddaughter, Mary Elizabeth Moyer of Lewiston; a brother, George R. Bailey, of Saratoga Springs, N.Y.; a sister, Catherine Muriel (Mimi) Blauvelt and her husband, Calvin Blauvelt, of Lady Lake, Fla.; cousins; five nieces; and three nephews.
