AUBURN – Viviette “Ve” Laplante, 87, of 87 Scribner Blvd., Lewiston, died Saturday, Sept. 22, at the Hospice House in Auburn.
Born in Auburn on June 12, 1920, she was one of 12 children born to Thomas and Exilia (Fortier) Goulette.
Ve was educated in local schools and was an accomplished cook. She worked for many years as the pastry chef for the Homestead Restaurant.
On Feb. 4, 1943, she married Marcel O. Laplante, who predeceased her in 1994.
Her four “well loved” children survive her: Jacqueline and husband, Mike Fortunato, of Sidney, Ginette and husband, Ed Gilbert, Michelle and husband, Dave Boucher, and Mark A. Laplante, all of Lewiston; five grandchildren, Peter Fortunato, Maria Cooper, Nicole Gilbert, and John and Christian Boucher; four great-grandchildren; three sisters, Mrs. Dana (Dariel) Sabine, Mrs. Harold (Lorraine) McClure, and Mrs. Henry (Gloria) Levesque; one brother, Marcel and wife, Joan Goulette; and her brother-in-law, Hervey Gravel.
She was predeceased by her husband and parents; brothers, Arnaud, Roger, Lucien and Gerard Goulette; sisters, Marjorie Lepage, Anita Gravel and Theresa Gravel; and a beloved nephew, Dick Lepage.
The family wishes to thank the whole staff at the Hospice House, and a special thank-you to Dodie Tankey Lepage, for their warm caring and unending support.
