FARMINGTON – Mary Smith, 88, of Fayette, died early Monday, Sept. 3, at the Edgewood Rehabilitation Center.

She was born April 8, 1919, in Fayette, a daughter of John and Mammie (Schultz) Schmidt. She attended local schools.

On Feb. 16, 1946, she married Clinton “Smitty” Smith in Fayette, where they made their home and she worked as a loving homemaker to her family.

She enjoyed flower and vegetable gardening, canning and cooking.

She is survived by three sons, Calvin Smith of Livermore Falls, Eric Smith, and his wife, Roxanne, of Wilton and Kenneth “Ken” Smith, and his wife, Suzanne, of Fayette; eight grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

She was predeceased by her husband, Smitty on Nov. 5, 1989; and a daughter, Debra on July 5, 2002.
