WEST PARIS – Napoleon (Paul) Leon Martin, 89, of Oxford, died Aug. 27, at the Ledgeview Nursing Home in West Paris where he had resided for the last five years, with his family by his side.

He was born Nov. 13, 1917, in Canada, son of Bruno and Roseanna Martin. He served in World War II from 1942 to 1946, and with the military police in Germany. In his younger years he enjoyed flying and owned his own plane. He worked all his life in the woods.

He was married to Bernice Montminy in 1943.

He is survived by one sister, Leda Muellor, 85, of Lexington; two sons, Richard (Joline) Martin of Minot, Michael Martin of Augusta; one grandson, Richard (Shirley) Martin Jr. of Oxford, who looked after him and took care of his needs, two granddaughters, Donna Martin of Cumberland Center, and Wendy Chamberlain of North Carolina; and three great-grandchildren, Sareé Boutin, Sebestien and Abrial Chamberlain of North Carolina.

He was predeased by two brothers, Albert and Henry; and four sisters, Rose, Louise, Alice and Elesa.

At Paul’s request there will be no funeral.
