FORT WALTON BEACH, Fla. – Bernard S. Clabby, 78, of Fort Walton Beach, Fla., passed away on Aug. 18, at home, after declining health for an extended period of time.

He was born in Lewiston, Dec. 26, 1928, the son of Patrick and Margaret Madden Clabby, and was a resident of Fort Walton Beach, Fla., since 1970.

Barney was a retired USAF aircraft engine mechanic, serving 24 years.

After his retirement, he went on to various construction endeavors in the Okaloosa County area. He was a lifetime member of the VFW. He continued to attend Holy Trinity Lutheran Church after his wife’s death in 2000. He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather.

He is survived by his daughter, Carol Holden and husband, Chuck, of Ocoee, Fla.; son, David Clabby of Virginia; sisters, Mary Bird of Elkwood, Va., Julia Terpstra, Theresa Card, Patricia Kelley and Anne Clabby, all of Lewiston; brothers, John of Lewiston, and Francis of Sabattus; and granddaughters, Amanda and Emily Holden.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 46 years, Mae T. Clabby, Oct. 14, 2000; sister, Catherine C. Landry, Nov. 3, 1993; and sister, Margaret J. Chandonnet, March 28, 2003.
