RUMFORD – A Mass of Christian Burial for Alton W. Howes was celebrated Thursday at St. Athanasius-St. John Church, Rumford, with the Rev. Angelo LeVasseur as celebrant. Organist was Wayne Petrie and George Gionet was the altar server. Readings were given by Dot Benedix and Arita Zitoli. The eulogy was given by Kris Howes. Committal services were conducted by the Rev. Angelo LeVasseur and interment was at the Demerritt Cemetery, West Peru. Pallbearers were David Howes, Arthur Howes, Pam Howes, Terry Crosby, Kris Howes and Tom Benedix. Military honors were provided by VFW Post 3335 American Legion Post 10 and AMVETS Post 33. A reception followed the services in the church hall at St. Theresa Church, Mexico. Arrangements were under the care of Meader and Son Funeral Home, Rumford.
