SOUTH PARIS – Ethel M. (Rolfe) Damon, 95, of Norway, died Saturday, Aug. 4, at the Maine Veterans’ Home.
She was born in Bridgton on Jan. 18, 1912, the daughter of Edward and Elizabeth Young Allen. She attended Bridgton schools. She had worked for local shoe shops in Norway in her younger years and later worked for many years at Stephens Memorial Hospital in the kitchen, retiring in 1970. She enjoyed knitting, crocheting and needlepoint. She also loved to play beano and watch wrestling on television. She was married to George S. Damon, who predeceased her in 1993.
She is survived by two sons, Edwin R. Rolfe Jr. of Harrison and Rodney Rolfe, and his wife, Pat, of Norway; two daughters, Joyce, and husband, Oayma Colby Jr. of Norway and Diana Rolfe of South Paris; a brother, Rodney Allen of Bridgton; 17 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by a daughter, Phyllis Nadeau; eight brothers; and eight sisters.
