MEXICO – Clifford Nils Holmquist Sr., 79, of Roxbury Road, Mexico, died unexpectedly early Tuesday, July 31, at his home.

He was born in Mexico, Oct. 27, 1927, a son of Bert and Anna (Colburn) Holmquist and received his education in local schools. He was a resident of Mexico all of his life and on May 17, 1952 married Georgette Bellegarde.

He was a truck driver and crane operator for Mallory Construction, until his retirement in 1990. He enjoyed spending time with his family. He will be missed.

He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Georgette of Mexico; five daughters and four sons, Candy Holmquist of Mexico, Clifford Holmquist Jr., and his wife, Debby-Jo, of Chelsea, Valerie Marston, and husband, Garry, of Mexico, Melody Holmquist of North Carolina, Jackie Pettegrow, and her husband, Gene, of Mexico, George Holmquist, and his wife, Maria, of Florida, Craig Holmquist, and his wife, Nathalie, of Peru, Paul Holmquist, and his wife, Kristi, of Dixfield and Andrea Holmquist of Mexico; a brother, Bert Holmquist, and his wife, Dot, of Peru; 18 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and many friends.

He was predeceased by his sisters, Carrie, Eunice, Maxine and Katherine; and a brother, Ernest.
