West Paris – Madeline K. McAlister, 92, of South Paris died Friday, June 22, at the Ledgeview Living Center.

She was born in West Paris, Sept. 27, 1914, the daughter of John and Eva Bryant Kennagh. She was in the graduating class of 1931 at Paris High School.

She married S. Howard McAlister, June 24, 1933, and he predeceased her on Aug. 20, 1974. She had worked in various local shoe shops and had also worked as a housekeeper and child care provider for many years. She retired in 1966. She was a lifetime member of the Auxiliary Legion Post 72, in South Paris.

She is survived by a daughter, Patricia Bedard of South Paris; a son and daughter-in-law, Brand and Betty McAlister, of South Paris; nine grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren; step grandchildren; and step great-grandchildren.

She was predeceased by her husband, Howard McAlister; a daughter, Jeanette Turmenne of South Paris; a great-grandson, Sandon Morgan of West Paris; three brothers, Ken Kennagh of South Paris, Thomas Kennagh of Bethel, and Gustavus Kennagh; a stepdaughter, Priscilla Millett of South Paris; and a stepson, Burton McAlister.
