BANGOR – Daniel R. “Pup” Holt, 63, a resident of Ludden Drive in Jay, died suddenly Thursday, June 14, at Eastern Maine Medical Center from injuries sustained in an accident.
He was born on July 11, 1943, in Lewiston, the son of George and Beede (Dunn) Holt. He was a graduate of Livermore Falls High School, Class of 1961.
On Nov. 23, 1963, he married Carole Marchetti at St. Rose of Lima Church in Jay. Dan worked for International Paper at the Otis and Androscoggin Mills in the shipping department, retiring in 2005.
He was a very devoted husband, father and grandfather to his family and loved spending time with them. He was a communicant of St. Rose of Lima Church in Jay, Quarter Century Club of IP, NRA, Franklin County United Bikers of Maine and Harley-Davidson Club, Sportsman’s Alliance of Maine, Sons of Italy, a member of the Biggest Buck’s Club of Jay and the ATV Club of Jay and Wilton.
He enjoyed gardening, hunting, having been successful on his moose hunt in 2001, coaching little league baseball, participating in western re-enactments as “Deacon Dan,” and thanks to his wife, he enjoyed woodworking.
He is survived by his wife of 43 years of Jay; two daughters, Leslie Violette, and her husband, Ed, of Benton and Carrie Bannister, and her husband, Michael, of Sabattus; a son and best friend, Shawn Holt, and his wife, Abrey, of Livermore; five grandchildren, Megan Holt, Kayla Bannister, Jacob Bannister, Skyler Holt and Haley Holt; and two great-grandchildren, Kobee and Kaytlyn Maddux.
He was predeceased by his parents.
