FARMINGTON – Donn R. Barker, 57, of Farmington, passed away Wednesday, June 6, at his home with his family after a valiant and courageous battle.

He was born in Farmington March 9, 1950, the son of Lester E. and Elena M. (Dickey) Barker Jr. He attended the schools of Farmington, graduating from Farmington High School in 1968.

He married Nancy Gossom on Nov. 9, 1968, in Farmington at St. Luke’s Episcopal Church. For the majority of his life he worked in the woods, but had recently joined his family’s concrete business. He was a very active member of the Farmington Elks Lodge.

In his early years, he enjoyed trapping for fur and playing softball. He was an avid fishermen and hunter. He also enjoyed golfing, listening to country music, dancing, camping, loved to play pool and was an excellent horseshoe player.

He enjoyed watching NASCAR and attending races at Loudon, N.H. He also attended a New England Patriots game last fall, and was a big Red Sox fan. He loved spending time at Rock Pond with the boys and going with the family on trips to Moosehead, where he could “let loose.”

He loved spending time with Nancy, gardening, farming, feeding the wild turkeys, bird watching and cooking in the fire pit at their home.

He is survived by his wife of 38 years, Nancy; his parents; a daughter, Amy Barker, and her companion, Jason Bard, of Farmington; two sons, Thomas Barker of New Vineyard and Christopher Barker, and his wife, Cindy, of Farmington; five grandchildren, James Barker, Brandon and Madison Bard and Ian and Eben Barker; five sisters, Marjorie Taylor, Cynthia Kemble, and her husband, Roger, Celia Flint, and her husband, David, Carole Sweetser, and her husband, Merle and Cleo Barker; two brothers, George Barker, and his wife, Sharon and Joel, and his wife, Tammy; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and many close friends.

He was predeceased by a close brother-in-law, Robert Taylor.
