NORWAY – Norman R. Belanger, 64, of Norway, died Tuesday, June 5, at his residence unexpectedly, due to a longtime medical condition.

He was born on May 7, 1943, to William and Doris (O’Leary) Belanger. He spent his life working in the woods and as a fireman with the Auburn Fire Department, until becoming disabled.

He faithfully served his country in the U.S. Army, having served in Vietnam in the infantry as a communication specialist. His greatest joy was his love for his wife, Cherrie, his children and his family and his dogs, Willie and Mike.

He filled his days helping family and friends, gardening, hunting, fishing and watching NASCAR racing. His hearty laughter and keen sense of humor will be missed by all.

He is survived by his wife of 25 years, Cherrie Bonney of Norway; two sons, Norman Jr. of California and Randy of Indiana (formerly of Norway); a daughter, Leslie Grunden of Texas; a stepdaughter, Heather Bonney of Texas; three brothers, Bill Belanger, and his wife, Bente, Mike Belanger, and his wife, Helen, all of Mechanic Falls and Roger Belanger, and his wife, Joyce, of Auburn; two sisters, Lorraine Townsend of Lewiston and Susan Dunn and brother-in-law, Patrick Dunn of Auburn; and many nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his parents; his stepson, Jamie Bonney; and a foster brother, Arthur Kenney.
