WELD – Lawrence Russell “Ozzie” Forbes, 85, died Thursday, May 31, at his camp in his beloved Weld. He was a resident of Brunswick.
He was born July 16, 1921, in Elyria, Ohio, the son of Harry and Oleva (Krebs) Forbes. He was a graduate of the Case School of Applied Science in Cleveland. He served in the U.S. Army Air Corps as a second lieutenant from 1942 to 1946.
He owned the Forbes Brick and Tile Co. of Cleveland, Ohio for 30 years. He and his family have spent summers in Weld since 1954. He and his wife, Lois retired to Brunswick in 1991. He was a member of First Parish Church in Brunswick.
He is survived by his second wife, Barbara L. Blood of Brunswick; an older brother, Wallace Richard Forbes of Wakeman, Ohio; daughter, Anne Oswald, and husband, Jack, of Londonderry, N.H.; daughter-in-law, Karen Glazer Forbes of South Russell, Ohio.; grandchildren, Keith Oswald, and wife, Vanessa, Steven Oswald, and wife, Anne and Caryn Elizabeth Oswald; and great-grandchildren, Rebecca Korine, Joshua Lawrence, Jessica Payton, Jacqueline Elizabeth and Jacob Alexander Oswald.
He was predeceased by his first wife, Lois Rive Putman, whom he married in 1942; and his son, Lawrence Scott Forbes of South Russell, Ohio.
