NORWAY – Donald E. Matheson, 98, of Norway, died Friday at the Norway Living and Rehabilitation Center.

He was born in North Waterford on Aug. 21, 1908, the son of John C. and Effie Snow Matheson.

He graduated from Norway High School in the Class of 1927.

He had worked at the South Portland Shipyard, then as a shaper of sled tops at Paris Mfg. Co., and a shaper at Wilner Wood Products.

He had also worked in cement construction and as a steel form setter for highways, helped build the Guy E. Rowe School in Norway, and was a machinist.

In his younger years, he enjoyed boxing. He was a member of Paris Lodge No. 94 AF and AM.

On May 31, 1930, he married Beatrice Keisman, who predeceased him in 1996.

He is survived by nieces and nephews.
