LEWISTON – Richard “Dick” Chamberlain, 61, of Harrison, died Wednesday, May 16, at Central Maine Medical Center, after a courageous battle with cancer.

He was born in Attleboro, Mass., Nov. 20, 1945, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Otis Chamberlain.

He was an avid woodworker, musician and sports fan. He had a gift for listening to someone’s request for something to be built, visualizing it and bringing it to life. Some of his fine craftsmanship can be seen in the Maine Medical Center, Bridgton Hospital and Gorham Library. A dream of learning music theory and playing in a band was realized. He played for a few well know local bands such as “Steppin Out” and then “Hurricane Mountain” with Peter Allen, where he played the steel guitar. His true musical enjoyment came from playing the guitar or accordion for family and friends.

He enjoyed watching sporting events surrounded by family and friends. The Patriots, Red Sox, Bruins and professional boxing were the teams he followed with great enthusiasm! He realized a life long dream just over a year ago when he, with a group of friends, purchased a cabin in the northern Maine woods from which he hunted and fished.

He is survived by his loving wife and best friend, Shana “GAGA” Chamberlain; brothers and sisters, Ronnie, Jerry, Sue, Dennis, Michael, Darlene, Gary, Claire and Christine; children, Darcy Winslow, Ronnie Packard, Donna Gibbings, B.J. Bayley, Brian Chamberlain, Kerry Foster and J.R. Warren; grandchildren, Jefferey, Katie, Hannah, Tyler, Britney, Zachary, Connor, Madison, Spencer, Jordan, Dylan, Whitney, Devin, Brenna, Jeff, Lisa, Chris, Brianna, Aleah, Abbie, Anna, Tasker and Saige; and numerous nieces and nephews.
