CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. – Eda M. Waterhouse, 96, formerly of Ft. Oglethorpe, Ga. and Woodstock, wife of Elmer Waterhouse, died in Chattanooga, Tenn., on May 8.
She was born in Woodstock on Dec. 23, 1910, the daughter of the late Clifton R. and Linnie (Hayden) Wilson and was educated in Woodstock schools and later received her licensed practical nursing degree from the Florida hospital in Orlando, Fla., and worked as a private duty nurse and home health for many years.
She married Elmer Waterhouse on June 29, 1929, and they have been married for 77 years. She touched many people in her life with her painting of the Ten Commandments which she had copied and gave to more than 5,000 people.
She is survived by her husband of West Paris; two daughters, Geraldine Austin of Cunningham, Texas and Gloria Fleming of Woodstock; a son, Dwight Waterhouse of Collegedale, Tenn.; 11 grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; and several great-great-grandchildren.
She was predeceased by a son, Wayne; a daughter, Glenda Estrada; and five brothers, Everell Wilson, Leland Wilson, Delwin Wilson, Myrel Wilson and Raymond Wilson.
