LEWISTON – Thelma I. Scribner, 89, of Royalsborough Road in Durham, died April 5, at Central Maine Medical Center in Lewiston, with her family by her side.
She was born in Brunswick, April 22, 1917, the daughter of Walter and Alma Bates Smith.

Thelma was a member of the West Auburn School Historical Society and the Maine Farm Bureau. She attended the West Auburn Congregational Church. Among her interests were feeding her birds, gardening, and her animals, especially her dogs.
She will be remembered as a great cook, always cooking for her family gatherings. However, her greatest pleasure in life was her family and the time she spent with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She will be sadly missed, but always remembered as a loving and caring wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.
She is survived by one daughter, Patricia and her husband, John Enman, of Lisbon; four sons, Ronald and his wife, Kathi-Ann Scribner, of Durham, Kenneth and his wife, Pearl Scribner, of Durham, Norman and his wife, Christie Scribner, of Durham, and Walter and his wife, Shelly Scribner, of Baudette, Minn.; 12 grandchildren and 21 great grandchildren.
She was predeceased by her husband, Eugene; and two sisters, Hester Milikin and Althea Bates.
The family wishes to thank the entire staff at Clover Manor in Auburn and the Central Maine Medical Center in Lewiston, who so compassionately cared for Thelma and her family.
