AUBURN – Allen Francis Vogel, 85, of New Gloucester, died Friday, March 30, at Hospice House in Auburn.

Born Oct. 23, 1921, in Culberson, Neb., he was the son of Anthony and Justina Wasserman Vogel.

Mr. Vogel served six years in the Coast Guard during World War II.

He worked for and retired from Bath Iron Works. Mr. Vogel also worked for the local I.B.E.W. Union during his career as an electrician.

He was an active member of Saint Gregory’s Parish.

He enjoyed carving wood, gardening and nature.

He married Louise Bonney on June 1, 1943.

He is survived by his wife, Louise Vogel, of New Gloucester; two sons, Mark Vogel of Virginia, and Dale Vogel and wife, Tasanee, of Lewiston; two daughters, Nancy Morrison and husband, Bill, of New Gloucester, and Janet Vogel Bryant of New Gloucester; seven grandchildren, Kevin Vogel, Lisa Bibey, Scott Vogel, Kyle Bryant, Hannah Vogel, Bill Morrison Jr., and Karen Dehetre; four great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his sister, Ruth I. Coker; and one great-granddaughter, Maia Dehetre.
