CLEARWATER, Fla. – Irene E. (Foley) Chessie, 84, died Saturday, March 17, at Morton Plant Hospital while on vacation. She was a resident of Ledgeview Street in Mexico.

Born in Kingsclear, New Brunswick, Canada, on Nov. 5, 1922, she was the daughter of Medard and Ellen (Murphy) Foley.

She attended schools in Canada and worked as a teacher, a CNA and a private care attendant.

She enjoyed sewing, playing cards, bingo, painting, and especially being with her family. She was a communicant of St. Theresa’s Church in Mexico.

She was married in New Brunswick, Canada, on Feb. 23, 1943, to the late Gabriel Chessie, who died in Livermore Falls on April 10, 2002.

Survivors include eight daughters, Sylvia Belanger of Portland, Elaine Tibbetts and her husband, Philip Carrier, of Dixfield, Theresa Thibodeau and her husband, Victor, of Roxbury, Jane Swan and her husband, David, of Cumberland, Mary Rinaldo and her husband, Tim, of Dixfield, Monica Williams and her husband James of Palm Harbor, Fla., Joanne Chessie of Chicago, Ill., Maureen Brodeur and her husband, Thomas, of North Atttleboro, Mass., five sons; Norbert and his wife, Joan, of Livermore Falls, Dennis of Spanaway, Wash., Gary of Mexico, Joseph of Monroe, Wash.; Christopher of Mexico; two daughters in law, Cindy Newquist of Washington and Denise Chessie of Dixfield; four sisters, Mary Marr and her husband, Don, of Palm Harbor, Fla., Anise Kinnory and her husband, David, of Rancho Mirage, Calif., Gerry Meloche and her husband, Gerry, of Windsor, Ontario, Canada, Anne Cote and her husband, Eugene, of New Port Richey, Fla., 25 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.

She was predeceased by a brother, Arthur Foley.
