Yarmouth – Allan P. Jones, 80, of Freeport, died on Wednesday, March 14, at the Brentwood Nursing Home in Yarmouth with his family by his side.

He was born in Portland on March 29, 1926, the son of Lloyd and Bessie Dow Jones. He was educated in Yarmouth schools and attended North Yarmouth Academy.

On August 31, 1951, he married the former Jacqueline Rice, in Gardner. He worked for many years as a self-employed welder for his own business, A.J. Welding, repairing commercial fishing vessels. He had a great love for all animals.

He was a member of the Freeport Lodge 23, A.F. and A.M., a member of the Kora Temple Shrine in Lewiston. and the Eastern Star of Freeport 160. He also attended the Durham Congregational Church in Durham. Among his interest were deep sea fishing, birdwatching, and helping with the Rainbow Girls.

He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Jacqueline, of Freeport; three daughters, Daisy Fraser and her husband, Stanley, of Brunswick, Sandra Spear, of Durham, and Gail Jones and her partner, Jeanne Bamforth, of Durham; two sons, Vaughan Jones, of Durham, and Lloyd and his wife, Honora Jones, of Freeport; seven grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

He was predeceased by his son-in-law, Chuck Spear, in February of this year.
