WILTON – Rodney B. Vining, 58, of Wilton, passed away peacefully at home on Feb. 28, with his family by his side after a courageous battle with cancer.

He was born, March 25, 1948, in Farmington, a son of, Quentin and Frances (Lakin) Vining. He attended Wilton schools.

He was employed at International Paper, in Jay, for 35 years and made many wonderful friends. He loved the outdoors, fishing, gardening and playing golf, but his greatest joy came from spending time with his grandchildren.

He is survived by his parents of Wilton; his loving wife of 40 years, Meredith, of Wilton, whom he married in Wilton on, Jan. 7, 1967; mother-in-law, Delia Sprague, of Wilton; children, Cindy Kaherl, and her husband, Shane of Jay, Tim Vining, and his wife, Bobbi-Jo, of East Wilton, and Cathy Vining, and her companion, Howie, of Freeport; grandchildren, Andy, Matt, Autumn, Shane and Savannah; a sister, Barbie Vining, of East Dixfield; brothers, Ken Vining, of Wilton, and David Vining, of Jay.

He was predeceased by a twin brother, Ronald Vining; father-in-law, Carroll Sprague; and brother-in-law, Bradford Sprague.

His family wishes to thank all of their family, friends and Androscoggin Home Care & Hospice for all of the support during this very difficult time.
