SABATTUS – Edward B. Jillson, 91, a resident of High Street, Sabattus, went to be with his Lord on Tuesday, Feb. 27, following a brief illness.
He was born Oct. 9, 1915, in Greene, the son of Daniel and Gwendolyn Howatt Jillson.
He graduated from Sabattus High School.
On July 15, 1939, in Lewiston, he married his childhood sweetheart, Kathleen Savage. She passed away Sept. 21, 2006.
He spent many years as a spinner in the woolen mills in Lewiston.
He was very active in the Community Free Baptist Church in Sabattus, where he had been a deacon and also sang in the choir.
He freely shared his faith with people that he met and his joy was evident for all to see.
He was a man who rejoiced in the simple things of life that money could not buy. He dearly loved the Lord, his wife, Cassie, his sons and their families. He waited excitedly to see the first robin of spring, the May flowers in full bloom and to listen to the water in the bubbling brooks.
He loved walking on the path by the lake, a stroll on the Main Street in town and rides to see his beloved Hills Ridge in Greene, where he roamed as a small boy.
He is survived by three sons, Edward and his wife, Patricia, Charles and his wife, Diana, and Richard and his wife, Brenda, all of Sabattus; seven grandchildren, Colleen Jillson of Sabattus, Scott Jillson of Portsmouth, N.H., David and his wife, Sandra, of Sabattus, Katherine Jillson of Jamaica Plain, Mass., Michael and his wife, Sue, of Wales, Lauri Shepherd and her husband, Aubert, of Litchfield, and Melissa Fortin and her husband, Mike, of Sabattus; 11 great-grandchildren, Sarah LaPierre, Ezra Jillson, Joshua and Nathan Jillson, Taylor and Madison Shepherd, Adam, Matthew and Isaac Fortin, Nicole Carns and Joshua Beane; and three great great-grandchildren, Jayde LaPierre, and Luke and Ryleigh Haskell; and a special niece, Eileen “Teenie” Poulin and her husband, Lou.
