JUPITER, Fla. – Gloria E. (Young) Milliken, 74, died Feb. 24, in Jupiter, Florida.

She was born July 10, 1932, in Bath, the daughter of Louis and Hazel (Reed) Young. She was educated in Bath schools and graduated from Morse High School, with the class of 1950. Her pride in graduating with the Class of 1950 is evident by the many reunions she attended and the mementos and photos that she saved.

She married William Milliken, May 23, 1952, in Bath and they spent 49 devoted years together. Bill’s work as a recreation director took them to Millinocket from 1958 to 1965, and Leominster, Mass., from 1965 to 1968, and finally to Lewiston, where they lived on 23 Fairlawn Ave., for 34 years. Bill sadly left her side in April 2001. In 2002, she moved to Alna, to live with family.

She will be greatly missed and will always be remembered as a devoted and loving wife, mother, and “Grammy.” Her greatest love in her life was her family. Every chance to be with family members was special to her, and we will forever be blessed with the memories of vacations, holidays and family gatherings with her.

Her family and friends will cherish the many thoughtful ways she held each one of us dear. As she walks softly in our hearts forever, we will remember her talent for crafts, her passion for music, and her love of dancing. She loved the beach, rays of sunshine, and the smell of the ocean salt air. It is a peaceful thought that she now basks in the peace and warmth of heaven.

She is survived by a daughter Judi Wellinghurst, of Fryeburg; three sons, Shane, and wife, Julie, of Winthrop, Scott, and wife, Judy, of Alna, and Kevin, and wife, Carol, of Jupiter, Florida; several special grandchildren; a devoted cousin, Larry Reed, and nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her husband, Bill, brother Louis H. Young Jr. and sister Sandra Borski.
