FARMINGTON – Carlos E. Pomeroy, 87, of Wilton and a resident of the Sandy River Center for Health Care and Rehabilitation, Farmington, died Thursday Feb. 15, at the center.
He was born Feb. 20, 1919, in Chesterville, the son of Elton B. and Muriel (Shaw) Pomeroy.
He received his education in local schools and beginning in 1941 served in the First Marine Division during World War II, where he received the Bronze Star while stationed in Rendova Islands in the Pacific. In 1946, he married Cleo Cochran, with whom he shared 50 years of marriage.
He was employed throughout the years for Omer Beisaw, H.P. Hood, Bob Welch Plumbing and Heating, Wilton Lumber Co. and Cliff Chase Builders.
He is survived by four children, Jeanne Lambert, and her husband, William “Bill,” of Wilton, Mark Pomeroy of Dryden, Joel Pomeroy, and his wife, Wendy, of Wilton and Maureen Farrington, and her husband, Jeff, of Jay; a sister, Louise Knowlton, and her husband, Al, of Livermore; 12 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
He was predeceased by his wife in 1996; and his brother, Mellen Pomeroy.
