LEWISTON – Willard J. Langlais, 74, of 80 Brook St., Sabattus, and formerly of 10 Oak Park, Lewiston, died Sunday, Feb. 11, at d’Youville Pavilion after a long, courageous battle with cancer.
He was born in Van Buren on April 3, 1932, the son of Fred and Alice (Gagnon) Langlais and had been a resident of this community most of his life.
He was married to the former Marie R. Thibodeau on Oct. 15, 1966, and she died on Aug. 10, 2006.
He was employed as a launderer at St. Mary’s Hospital for several years until his retirement.
He was a parishioner of the Basilica of Saints Peter and Paul.
The short time that he and his wife lived at Oak Park, he enjoyed the company and friendships that he made, especially with the sidewalk gang. He most of all enjoyed the time spent with his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He is survived by two sons, Willard Dubé, and his wife, Carole, of Quebec and Gary Langlais, and his companion, Anita Dionne, of Sabattus; three stepsons, Edward Tardif, and his wife, Diane, of Sabattus, Philip Tardif, and his wife, Lydia, of Corpus Christi, Texas, and Daniel Tardif, and his wife, Linda, of Sabattus; four stepdaughters, Rachel Clevenger, and her husband, John, of Lewiston, Brenda Chouinard, and her husband, Marc, of Auburn, Judy Thongsavanh, and her husband, Thoune, of Auburn and Rena Tardif of Lewiston; 15 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was predeceased by two brothers, Bertrand and Perley Langlais; and three sisters, Sadie Lebel, Emilienne Lebel and Leona Belanger.
