FARMINGTON – Sadie “Sally” Mae Benson, 89, of Farmington passed away Sunday, Jan. 21, at Edgewood Manor Rehabilitation and Living Center with her family by her side.

She was born July 28, 1917, in Keene, N.H., the daughter of William and Sadie (Saulnier) Arnott.

She was educated in the schools of Dedham, Mass. On Nov. 26, 1936, she married Charles W. Benson at St. Theresa’s Church in West Roxbury, Mass.

She moved to Maine in 1944, and worked for Sweetser’s Mill for many years.

She moved to Laconia, N.H., in 1969, and worked at Teco Electronics until her retirement in 1979, when she moved back to Maine.

She was a member of the Red School House Extension, the Chesterville Grange, and Communicant of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Farmington.

Her family and her church were her life. She also enjoyed knitting, crocheting, crossword puzzles, and followed the Red Sox.

She is survived by five daughters, Shirley Hennessy and her husband, Edward, of Northampton, Mass., Jean Mitchell and her husband, Ronald, of Temple, Beverly Lewis and her husband, Roy, of New Sharon, Peggy Buzzell and her husband, Ervin, of Gorham, and Diane Porter and her husband, Danny, of New Sharon; ten grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren; two sisters, Robertha and Marjorie Civitarese both of Dedham, Mass.; and many nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her husband of 54 years, Charles; one grandson; one great-grandson; four sisters; and one brother.
