LEWISTON – Ernest J. Roy, 80, of 7 Franklin St., Lewiston died late Friday, Dec. 22, at St. Mary’s Regional Medical Center after a short illness.

He was born in Rumford on Dec. 1, 1926, the son of Aurele and Lucy (Richard) Roy and had been a resident of this community for most of his life.

He served in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1945 through 1947. He worked for Philips Elmet in Lewiston for 30 years.

He married the former Rita Vermette on Jan. 13, 1960.

He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Rita Roy of Lewiston; his sons, Ernest of Northfield, N.H., and David of Nashua, N.H.; his grandchildren, Matthew, Angelique, Michael, Marc and Amy Roy, all of Northfield, N.H.; his brothers, James, Richard, Leonard, Ronald and Aurele Roy; along with many nieces, nephews and cousins.
