LEWISTON – Roland G. Butcher, 75, of Auburn, passed away after a long illness at Central Maine Medical Center on Dec. 19, with his loving family by his side.
He was born in Philadelphia, Pa., on April 20, 1931, the only son of George and Anita (O’Malley) Butcher. He went on to serve his country in the U.S. Air Force and then went to work for the former Northeast and Yellowbird Airlines, now Delta Air Lines, for more than 30 years until his retirement in Oct. 1 1986; he loved to work.
He greatly enjoyed traveling especially to Florida, California and Vegas. He loved the ocean and enjoyed spending his summers on York Beach. He found great enjoyment in dining, whether it be at home or out in public. He also was a Red Sox fan.
He is survived by his four children, daughter, Anita Lane, and husband, David, of Turner; sons, Arthur Butcher, and wife, Sue, of Auburn, Dwain Butcher, and wife, Kathy, of Winthrop and Kenneth Butcher, and wife, Martha, of Turner; his 10 grandchildren, Kenny, Hope, Eric, Kendra, Kelsey, Amy, Jenni, Kayla, Kristen and Kacie; a great-grandchild, MacKenzie; as well as his extended family at Clover Manor.
He was predeceased by his wife, Lucienne (Perreault) Butcher.
His family would like to express their sincere appreciation to the entire staff at Clover Manor for all the love and care shown to Roland and his family over the last seven years.
