Leeds – Sheila R. Brown, 64, a resident of Corvella Street, Leeds, died Wednesday, Dec. 20, at her home.
She was born April 16, 1942, in Rumford, the daughter of Joseph Sr. and Irene Rowe Duguay. She attended Sumner grade school and Stephens High School in Rumford.
On May 2, 1968, in Skowhegan, she married Franklin D.R. Brown; he passed away in August 2004. She worked in area shoe shops until she became a certified nurse’s aide. She took her CNA course at Russell Park Manor in Lewiston. She then went to work at Nicholson’s Nursing Home in Winthrop for 10 years.
She was a member of St. Francis Xavier Church in Winthrop. She enjoyed camping with Franklin, going to area fairs, doing circle word puzzles, but most of all, she loved spending time with her children and grandchildren.
She is survived by two sons, John Hanscom Jr. of Auburn and James Brown, and his wife, Elizabeth, of New York; two daughters, Judi Bussiere, and her companion, Ray Monte, of Rumford and Carol Hanscom, and her companion, Dennis Smith, of Leeds; a stepson, Mark Brown of Virginia; two stepdaughters, Trudy Brown, of Norway and Lisa Brown, of Hartland; two brothers, Tom Duguay, of Auburn and Peter Duguay, and his wife, Joan, of South Paris; four sisters, Faye Louvat, and her husband, Roland, of Rumford, Carol Champagne, and her husband, Victor, of Biddeford, Cathy Bachelder, and her husband, Alan, of Leeds and Susan Bachelder, and her husband, John, of Leeds; eight grandchildren; four stepgrandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and a great-granddaughter, Alexis Marie Child, born Dec. 18.
She was predeceased by her husband, Franklin Brown; two brothers, Joseph Duguay Jr. and Gary Duguay; a sister, Mary Duguay; and two nephews, Brian Hanson Jr. and Robert Hanson.
