WEST STEWARTSTOWN, N.H., – Eleanor Persis White, 85, of Wilsons Mills, Maine, died Friday, Nov. 24, at Coos County Nursing Hospital in West Stewartstown, N.H., where she had resided since April.

She was born on April 22, 1921, in Flagstaff, Maine, the daughter of Percy B. and Julia (Blackwell) Parsons. She received her education in Flagstaff School, graduating as valedictorian in 1939.

She attended Portland Nursing School and graduated as a registered nurse in 1945.

She married Glenwood H. White on Nov. 23, 1952, at the Flagstaff Chapel in Eustis. She worked as an R.N. in Maine, Massachusetts, California, and finally in New Hampshire at Coos County Nursing Hospital.

She was a member of the Errol Congregational Church, the Errol, N.H. Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star, the CWA, the Aziscohos Grange, the Wilsons Mills school board, and the Dead River Area Historical Society. She was an officer in many of these organizations and was active in all of them.

Eleanor was an avid reader and enjoyed sewing.

Survivors include her step-son, Lynn White; three grandsons, Christopher, Jeffrey and Jonathan; a great-grandson, Hayden White; and two brothers, Forrest Parsons of Stratton, and Kenneth Parsons of Pasadena, Texas.

She was predeceased by her husband, Glenwood, in 1995.
