LEWISTON – Sally L. Paine, 73, a resident of 85 Caron Ave., Auburn died early Monday, Nov. 20, at St. Mary’s Regional Medical Center with her family by her side after a lengthy illness.
She was born in Minot, July 3, 1933, the daughter of Edmond C. and Gladys (Taylor) Piper. She attended local schools, and was a 1952 graduate of Mechanic Falls High School. She furthered her education in Lewiston at the former Bliss College. She then married Lawrence Paine on April 7, 1956, and worked as a homemaker raising her family.
She loved camping and family outings with lobster bakes on the fourth of July. She also enjoyed taking care of her grandchildren and volunteered at St. Joseph’s Day Care in Auburn.
Survivors include one son, Michael Paine, and his wife, Diane, of Lewiston; two daughters, Darlene Therrien, and her husband, James, of Lewiston and Brenda Fortin, and her husband, Donald, of Poland; four sisters, Edna Beaudette of Lewiston, Bernice Child, and her husband, Arnold, of Arizona, Patricia Piper of Old Orchard and Donna Labbe of Lewiston; 10 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
She was predeceased by her husband, Lawrence Paine Dec. 7, 1984; by her companion, Leo Carrier in 1998; one granddaughter, Carol Paine; one brother, Sherman Piper; and one sister, Barbara Parker.
