AUBURN – Mary Ellen St. Pierre, 79, of 20 Great Falls Plaza, Auburn, passed away Nov. 8, at the Hospice House.
She was born July 16, 1927, daughter of George and Cecilia St. Pierre. She was educated in Auburn schools and was a 1945 graduate of Edward Little High School.
She did office work until her retirement in 1993. She enjoyed summers at the family cabin in Cundy’s Harbor.
A life-long member of St. Patrick’s Church, she enjoyed working at St. Vincent’s Store and was a eucharistic minister at Central Maine Medical Center. She loved meeting new people, enjoyed reading, but her greatest love was traveling.
She visited cousins in England, friends in Ireland and the trip of a lifetime was going to Beijing, China in 2001 with her sister-in-law Sally. She and nine family members cruised the inland passage to Alaska in August 2004.
She is survived by stepsisters, Claudia L’Heureux of Augusta and Pat L’Heureux of Villa Park, Ill.; sister-in-law, Sally St. Pierre Johansen, and husband, Richard, niece, Judy Johansen and nephews, Jeffrey, James and Jason, all of Connecticut, and John B. St. Pierre of Mount Vernon.
She was predeceased by her stepsister, Irene in 1945; her father, George in 1963; her mother, Cecilia in 1978; her brother, John F. in 1992; and stepsister, Hilda in 2004.
