RANGELEY – Robert E. “Bob” Nelson, 76, of Oquossoc, died Tuesday, Nov. 7, of heart failure while hunting in Rangeley, which he loved to do.

He was born in Beverly, Mass., on March 20, 1930, a son of Robert T. and Mary Agnes (Small) Nelson. Bob was a graduate of Beverly High School and served in the U.S. Army from 1951 until 1953.

A licensed master plumber, he owned his own business from 1962 until he retired in 1998. He was a private pilot and a member of the Experimental Aircraft Association, Chapter 106. An avid hunter and fisherman, he was a member of the Rangeley Guides and Sportsman’s Association and Trac. He also enjoyed volunteering his time with the Boy Scouts. He loved woodworking.

He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Jeannette Perreault Nelson of Oquossoc; his daughter, Karen Ann, and her husband, Jason Williams, of Tulsa, Okla.; two sons, Mark Nelson of Oakland, Calif. and Robert Nelson of Tucson, Ariz.; daughter, Jan, and her husband, Michael Sheehy, of Medford, Mass.; two brothers, John Nelson of Farmington, N.H. and Lawrence Nelson of Beverly, Mass.; a sister, Marilyn Hayes of Danvers, Mass.; five grandchildren, Laura Nelson, Jeremiah and Taliena Mills and Kyle and Alyssa Nelson; as well as several nieces and nephews.
