Auburn – David Moseley Blossom, 75, a resident of Main Street, Monmouth, died Nov. 1, at the Hospice House of heart failure.

He was born Dec. 12, 1930, in Hull, Mass., the son of Robert and Estelle Skelton Blossom. He graduated from Franklin Institute and Suffolk University, Boston, Mass.; and also attended Boston University and Bangor Theological Seminary. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1951 to 1952.

On May 25, 1975, in Hamden, Conn., he married Joan Boynton; he and Joan were married for 31 happy years. His travels through life included work as a chemist, writer, actor, pastor and social worker. He really enjoyed cooking.

He was a member of Monmouth Masonic Lodge 110 AF & AM. The Masonic order was a very important part of this life; he was a 32nd degree Mason, member of Scottish and York bodies, and devoted to his blue lodge affiliations, having served as master of Monmouth Lodge and Konohassett Lodge in Cohasset, Mass.

He was a UCC member of the United Church of Monmouth. He felt that this quote from Scaramouche by Raphael Sabitini best described him; “He was born with the gift of laughter and a sense that the world was mad.”

He is survived by his wife, Joan of Monmouth; a son, Robert Blossom, of Simancas, Spain; a daughter, Sarah Blossom of Riverside, R.I.; five grandchildren, Adam and Elizabeth Ainslie and Sam, Miles and Chloe Blossom; and his faithful cat companion, Susan B. Anthony.
