LEWISTON – Betty Evelyn Hurd, 82, of Auburn, passed away on Oct. 24, at Central Maine Medical Center.
She was born on Aug. 14, 1924, in Lewiston, a daughter of the late Hebert and Pearl (Bragdon) Campbell.
She attended Auburn schools and graduated from Edward Little High School, Class of 1942. She later met and married Richard C. Hurd on June 29, 1946, at Elm Street Church in Auburn. She worked for many years at various shoe shops until her retirement in 1984. She greatly enjoyed playing beano, watching TV and loved doing crossword puzzles.
She is survived by her son, Russell A. Hurd, and wife, Linda D. Hurd, of Auburn; her brother, Linwood Campbell of Auburn; her grandchildren, Pamela Jean Hurd of Nashua, N.H., Rebecca Ann Stiglitz, and husband, Chris, of Seattle, Wash., Alan Russell Hurd, and wife, Tamara, of Auburn, Dawn Marie Clark, and husband, Charlie, of Bangor, James Earl Bailey of Auburn and Christine Leeann Dawson, and husband, Terry, of Derry, Kan.; her great-grandchildren, Ja’Lisa and Ky’Ira Dawson of Houston, Texas, Nicole Clark of Bangor and Dakota Nekia Hurd of Auburn.
She was predeceased by her parents, Hebert and Pearl Campbell; her loving husband; Richard C. Hurd on Jan. 16, 2002; and a daughter, Judith Ann “Judy” Hurd in August 1977.
