LEWISTON – Lucien R. Simard, 91, of Auburn, died Wednesday, Oct. 11, at Central Maine Medical Center.

He was born in Lewiston on May 6, 1915, the son of Theodore and Dorilda (Cote) Simard, He was a member of Sacred Heart Parish and had been a resident of this community all his life.

He was a U.S. Army veteran with the 103rd Infantry serving in World War II including Guadalcanal, Northern Solomons, New Guinea and Luzon. On Oct. 7, 1955, he married the former Madeline Durgin, who predeceased him on Feb. 17, 2001.

He was a self-employed carpenter prior to his retirement.

He is survived by five grandchildren, Richard Thibodeau Jr., and his wife, Helen, of Greene, Marc Thibodeau, and his wife, Lori, Dan Thibodeau, and his wife, Tanis, and Pat Thibodeau, and his wife, Kathy, all of Leeds, and Amy Thibodeau of Turner; and several nieces and nephews.

Besides his wife, he was predeceased by a daughter, Gwendolyn Thibodeau who died in 1972; and two sisters, Laura and Freda.
