FARMINGTON – Lyle “Pete” Gordon, 74, of Fairbanks, died peacefully in the early morning hours of Monday, Oct. 2, after a long illness, with his loving family by his side.

He was born in Chesterville on Sept. 26, 1932, the son of Harold and Ruth Gordon.

He was employed at Knowlton and McCleary and Forster Mfg. Co. for 40 years. He managed the box department for many years at the Dryden plant of Forsters.

On Feb. 11, 1952, he married Barbara Kent of Farmington.

He loved hunting, fishing, tinkering and gardening.

He enjoyed spending time at the family cottage in West Phillips.

He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Barbara, of Farmington; seven children and their families, Bill Gordon and Peggy Smith of Wilton, Betty and Dara Maguire of Farmington, Patty and Ronald Stanley of Washington Plantation, Fred and Cynthia Gordon of Newport News, Va., Lyle Gordon II and Terry Gordon of Farmington, Teresa and Jon Karkos of Temple, and Tom and Jen Gordon of Jay; 16 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

He was predeceased by siblings, Luella Currier, Effie Jackman, Harold “Joe” Gordon, Samuel Gordon and Ruth Gordon.
