LITTLETON, Mass. – John Putnam Littlefield, 70, of Littleton, Mass., died on Sept. 20, at Life Care Center of Nashoba Valley.

He was born Dec. 7, 1935, son of the late Harland and Catherine (Berry) Littlefield of Auburn. He graduated from Edward Little High School in 1954, and continued studies at Wentworth Institute in Boston.

He served in the U.S. Army from 1956 to 1959. He was a machinist by trade and retired as vice president of SPM Corp. in Woburn.

In November 1961, he married Beverly Groves of Auburn. He was employed by Raytheon and relocated to Littleton, Mass., in 1964. He was active with his wife and sons in little league, Cub Scouts and annual high school plays. He also enjoyed family camping and other outdoor activities, as well as furniture making. He was also a member of Tranquil Masonic Lodge, AF & AM of Auburn.

He is survived by his wife, Beverly (Groves) Littlefield of Littleton; two sons, Scott and his wife, Michelle Littlefield, of Stow and Jay and his wife, Melinda, of San Francisco, Calif.; a sister, Mary Ann and her husband, Richard Merrill, of Augusta; and three grandchildren, Devin, Jacob and James Littlefield of Stow.
