LEWISTON – Kathleen M. Jillson, 90, a resident of High Street, Sabattus, died Thursday, Sept. 21, after spending a wonderful day with her family at Central Maine Medical Center, where she had been a patient since Wednesday.
She was born April 1, 1916, in Wayne, the daughter of Arthur E. and Ella E. Welts Savage. She and her husband, Edward, were both graduates of Sabattus High School. On July 15, 1939, in Lewiston, she married Edward B. Jillson of Greene. She was a homemaker and mother, being a mother is what she really loved. The legacy she left in life was faith, family and caring for others.
She and Edward were members of the Community Free Baptist Church in Sabattus, and both of them were baptized in Lisbon Falls. She served many years on the social committee at church. One of the first Easter breakfasts served by the church was held in their home.
She enjoyed going for rides, loved family gatherings, special love for all animals and really enjoyed feeding and watching the birds from the kitchen window while rocking in her favorite chair.
She is survived by her husband, Edward of Sabattus; three sons, Edward and his wife, Patricia, Charles and his wife, Diana and Richard and his wife, Brenda, all of Sabattus; seven grandchildren, Colleen Jillson of Sabattus, Scott Jillson of Portsmouth, N.H., David and his wife, Sandra, of Sabattus, Katherine Jillson of Jamaica Plain, Mass., Michael and his wife, Sue, of Wales, Lauri Shepherd and her husband, Aubert, of Litchfield, Melissa Fortin and her husband, Mike, of Wales; 11 great-grandchildren, Sarah LaPierre, Ezra, Joshua and Nathan Jillson, Taylor and Madison Shepherd, Adam, Matthew and Issac Fortin, Nicole Carns and Joshua Beane; three great-great-grandchildren, Jayde LaPierre and Luke and Ryleigh Haskell; a niece, Eileen (Teenie) Poulin who she was very close to.
The family would like to thank her caregivers at Personal Touch Home Care for their loving care.
