DERRY, N.H. – Roger A. Vachon, 79, of New Hampshire and formerly of Lewiston, died on Saturday, Sept. 16, at 4:23 p.m. He was the beloved husband of Priscilla A. (Perreault) Vachon.
He was born in Lewiston, on Sept. 25, 1926, the son of the late Adelard and Lucie (Poulin) Vachon and was educated in local schools.
He served in the U.S. Navy in World War II and saw action in the battle of Okinawa and also with the Marines in Korea in 1951.
In 1952, he and his wife moved to Connecticut, where they resided for 39 years. He was employed in the sporting firearms industry in manufacturing management and was active in the Marine Corps League.
They retired to Lewiston in 1988, moved to Port Richey, Fla., in 1997, and then to Derry, N.H., this year.
Survivors include his wife of 59 years, Priscilla; one son, Robert A. Vachon and his wife, Deborah, of Derry, N.H.; a grandson, Christopher of Derry, N.H.; a granddaughter, Danielle of Derry, N.H.; two step-granddaughters, Rebecca and Amy McLaughlin of Derry, N.H.; two step-grandsons, William and Douglas McLaughlin of Derry, N.H.; and two sisters, Cecile St. Pierre of Venice, Calif. and Yvonne St. Pierre of Lewiston.
He was predeceased by his parents; two brothers, Roland and Robert; and four sisters, Jeanette Castonguay, Juliette Blais, Therese Silvia and Liane LeBrun.
