LEWISTON – Sandra Fay Frost Martin, 67, of Dixfield, died Friday, Sept. 15, at Central Maine Medical Center in Lewiston, with her loving family by her side.
She was born, Jan. 19, 1939, in Rumford, the daughter of William and Iola Ellis Frost.
On Oct. 19, 1963, she married Anthony Martin.
She was a wonderful and special wife, mother, sister and friend. She will be sadly missed by all.
She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary Post 100 in Dixfield for 30 years, and held several offices, including president. She was also a member of the VFW Auxiliary Post 1641 in Rumford, the Mt. Sugarloaf Grange in Dixfield, before it closed, and in 1959 was the Grange Apple Princess and went to the state finals.
She also was a charter member of the Church of the Nazarene in Dixfield. She was active in T.O.P.S. (Take Off Pounds Sensibly) and BINGO at the American Legion in Dixfield.
She enjoyed visiting with family and friends, going for rides, coloring, crossword puzzles and watching Dirigo High School field hockey and basketball games.
She fought a courageous battle with diabetes. She lost both her legs but was determined to walk again, and did. She didn’t let anything stop her. She fought until the very end. She was a very brave, courageous, determined woman and will never be forgotten.
She is survived by her husband, Anthony, of Dixfield; daughters, Diana Riuard and her husband, Pat, of Albany Twp., and Twila Babos and her husband, Scott, of Alaska; sons, Paul Martin and his wife, Dawn, of Auburn, and Craig Martin and his wife, Sabrina, of Yarmouth; step-daughters, Kathy Martin and Sue Enman of Dixfield, Kim Sanborn and her husband, Bill, of Dixfield, Susie Voter and her husband, Wendall, of Strong, Perdita Wehrheim and her husband, Herst, of Germany; seven grandchildren; one great granddaughter; sisters, Sharon Lee and her husband, Steven, of Weld, and Linda and her husband, John, of Mercer; brothers, Dexter and Timmy Frost of Dixfield, Morton Frost and his wife, Sandy, of Mexico, Dickie Frost and his wife, Rose, of Dixfield, Terry and his wife, Carolynn of Dixfield; and many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her parents and a sister, Priscilla Frost.
