AUBURN – Eva L. Galipeau, 88, a resident of Schooner Estates, died Monday, July 24 at the Hospice House, after a short illness.
She was born on June 2, 1918, in St. Narcisse, Quebec, the daughter of Ovila and Marie (Duclos) Langlois. She married Reneau O. Galipeau on May 1, 1939, in Lewiston. He predeceased her on Nov. 12, 1989.
She attended Lewiston schools, residing in Lewiston and Auburn her whole life. She worked in the cloth room of the Continental Mill, until it closed, then as a seamstress at Ward Brothers, until retiring in 1983.
She was a parishioner of Holy Family Church. An avid card player, she also enjoyed sewing, reading, jigsaw puzzles and crossword puzzles. She was a great sports fan, enjoying golf, the Red Sox and bowling. She loved to spend time with her family.
She is survived by two daughters, Constance Pelchat of Gilbert, Ariz. and Joan DeOrsey and husband, Stan, of Monmouth; one son, Paul R. Galipeau and wife, Judy, of Warren; six grandchildren, Susan Collentro and husband, James, of Gilbert, Ariz., Marc Pelchat and wife, Kate, of Wales, Wis., Scott J. Galipeau and wife, Christa, of Presque Isle, Sean P. Galipeau-Eldridge and wife, Leah, of Otisfield, Michael DeOrsey of Cambridge, Mass., and Hunter R. Galipeau of Warren; nine great-grandchildren, Nicholas, Eric, Amanda and Andrew Collentro, Molly Grace Pelchat, Emma and Willa Galipeau-Eldridge and Piper and Sierra Galipeau; a sister, Rose Harlow, and a brother, Roger Langlois and wife, Theresa, all of Lewiston; and many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her stepmother, Marie Samson Langlois; a son-in-law, Ray Pelchat; and three brothers, Odias, Lucien and Alfred Langlois.
Her family wishes to thank Dr. Austin and the entire staff at the Hospice House for their excellent care of Eva.
