LEWISTON – Melinda G. Fraser, 91, of Bridge Street, died Sunday, July 23, with her family by her side at CMMC, after a short illness.

She was born on July 31, 1914, in Frenchville to Joseph and Elise (Sirois) Guerrette. She was educated in Frenchville, and in 1936 she married Albert Fraser in Frenchville.

They moved to Lewiston with their five children in 1943. She worked at Hill Mill in the cloth room for 27 years and at Paine Incense for 16 years.

She was a member of the Basilica of Saints Peter and Paul for more than 60 years.

Her favorite times were those spent with her family. Besides working and taking care of her family, she enjoyed sewing, knitting and doing crafts.

After retiring she enjoyed many trips with senior citizen groups. She belonged to the Ladies of St. Anne, Lewiston Seniors Group, Holy Cross Seniors Group and Young at Heart.

Melinda is survived by three daughters, Irene Brochu and her husband, Fern, of Connecticut, Florine Marquis and her husband, Philip, Jacqueline Veilleux and her husband, Alphonse, all of Lewiston; one son, Rene Fraser and his wife, Bernice, of Minot; a daughter-in-law, Irene Fraser of Lewiston; 15 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; one sister, Jackie Larrivee and her husband, Marcel, of Lewiston; three sisters-in-law, Rita Guerrette, Wilda Guerrette and Claire Guerrette; and many nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her husband, Albert, in 1972; her son, Joseph L. Fraser, in 1991; three sisters; and six brothers.
