LEWISTON – Priscilla “La La” N. Gagnon, 75, of 130 Pond Road, went to be with the Lord and her deceased husband, family, and friends on Sunday, July 16, at Ste. Marguerite d’Youville Pavilion with her family by her side.
She was born Dec. 26, 1930, in Lewiston, the daughter of Medore and Courana Gagnon. She was educated in Lewiston schools.
She was a devoted wife, mother, sister, aunt, grandmother, great-grandmother, godmother and children’s day-care provider.
In her lifetime, she had three different careers. She worked at Webster Rubber Heel in Sabattus for more than 20 years. She was also the owner of Priscilla’s Lunch on the corner of Lisbon and Maple streets in Lewiston for many years. She operated the restaurant with her sister, Cecile Brooks, and her niece, Sue Gagnon.
For the last 20 years, she was a children’s day-care provider. This last calling was by far her most cherished and rewarding. Her “kids” and their parents were her extended family, having cared for most from six weeks to school age and beyond. She was very energetic, and the kids enjoyed being with her. Her older “kids” would often come back during summer vacation to be with “La La.”
She loved shopping and dining out with her daughters, loud music, watching movies, picture puzzles and playing cards and board games with her sister, nephews and nieces. She will be missed by all whose lives she touched.
She is survived by her first husband, Robert R. Labbe and his companion, Jeanne LaRoche, of Lewiston; two loving daughters, Connie Haas of Lewiston and her companion, Joe Buck, of Bryant Pond and Diane Savard and husband, Gary, of Lewiston; three grandchildren, John Savard, Brian Savard and his fiance, Laurie Gosselin, and Richard Nadeau and his fiance, Trisha Dunn, all of Lewiston; one great-grandson, Cole Savard; and two great-granddaughters on the way; a sister, Cecile Brooks, with whom she shared her home and many good times; a brother, Rene Gagnon and his wife, June, of Mechanic Falls; many nieces, nephews and cousins; three stepchildren, Mike Gagnon, Diane and Nelson Corneil and Brenda Gagnon.
She was predeceased by her parents; second husband, Maurice Gagnon; a sister, Claudette Winslow; brother, Jimmy Gagnon; son-in-law, Milton Haas; brother-in-law, Garfield Brooks; and some nieces and cousins.
The family extends their thanks to CMMC Emergency Room doctors, nurses, and aides; Dr. Rietschel and Dr. Ingraham; CMMC Intensive Care Unit doctors, nurses and aides; Ste. Marguerite d’Youville Pavilion, 1 East and 2 West nurses and aides; Dr. Matthews; St. Mary’s Wound Center; and Dr. Austin and Hospice Care for all their support and care. Special thanks to Chaplin Elizabeth for her words of comfort to help ease our mother’s journey to heaven.
