AUBURN – Roland (Pete) Couillard, 85, of Winthrop, passed away Friday, July 14, at the Hospice House.

He was born in Fairfield on May 14, 1921, the son of Joseph Couillard and Yvonne (Trahan) Couillard, and attended Auburn schools.

Roland worked as a self-employed painter in Hartford and Bloomfield, Conn., for most of his working life and returned to Maine and settled in Winthrop after his retirement.

He enjoyed his home, family and friends.

Survivors include his wife of 65 years, Rachel N. Couillard of Winthrop; one son, Roland R. Couillard and daughter-in-law, Barbara, of Atlanta, Ga.; two daughters, Elizabeth LeBlanc of Lewiston and Theresa Loubier of Sabattus; three sisters, Sr. Jeanne Couillard of Sabattus, Estelle Loubier of Sabattus, and Georgette Pelletier of Lewiston; eight grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.

Roland was predeceased by his parents; and a brother, Ralph Couillard of Middleboro, Mass.
