TEMPLE, Pa. – H. Jack Merrill, 69, died June 17, at his Kempton, Lehigh County residence. He was the husband of Susan L. Schaeffer Merrill.

He was born in South Paris, the son of the late Henry and Mabelle Slattery Merrill. He was employed for 43 years at Garden State Tanning of Fleetwood, before his retirement in 2002.

He was a 1956 graduate of South Paris High School and attended the University of Maine at Orono.

Survivors include his wife; two sons, Michael J. Merrill of Charlotte, N.C. and Henry J. Merrill Jr. of Virginville, Pa.; three daughters, Cindy L. Werner of Reading, Pa., Caryn Merrill of Lancaster, Pa. and Cheryl Merrill-Giorgi of Leesport, Pa.; a stepdaughter, Keena L. Moyer of Fleetwood, Pa.; two brothers, Roger Merrill and James Merrill, both of South Paris; 19 grandchildren; and one great-grandson.

He was predeceased by a granddaughter, Laramie J. Moyer.
