FARMINGTON – Michael H. McNeal, 47, of Livermore Falls, died Tuesday, June 20, at Franklin Memorial Hospital.

Michael was born Nov. 10, 1958, the son of Charles Elwood and Mary Helen Kathleen (Belanger) McNeal, in Caribou. In 1977, he graduated from George Stevens Academy in Blue Hill.

He served proudly for 12 years in the U.S. Army, attaining the rank of staff sergeant before retiring early due to disability.

Michael will always be remembered for his quick-witted and wise-guy sense of humor. A wonderful storyteller, Michael could make you laugh even in the worst of times. Michael was passionate about his family, friends, nature and loved children. He will be fondly remembered as “Dr. Mike.”

Michael is survived by Ellenann, his wife of 28 years; his son, Timothy; daughter, Monica, and her fianc, Roger Begin; his mother, Kathleen and her husband, John Johnson, of Windham; his stepmother, Ruth McNeal of Greenville; brother, Gregory and his wife, Stephanie, of Fairfield; brother, Timothy and his wife, Deanne McNeal, of Ellsworth; sister, Carol DeSalle and her husband, Tony, of Windham; stepsister, Jolene Boucher and her husband, Mike, of Greenville; sister-in-law, Diane McNeal of Bristol, Conn.; sister-in-law Madeline McClure and her husband, Tom, of Reston, Va.; sister-in-law, Collette O’Shaughnessy and her husband, Don, of Sparta, N.Y.

Michael was close to his many nieces, nephews and cousins, including cousin Debbie Plummer and her husband Bob and their son, Andrew, of Hollis; niece, Wendi McNeal and her son, Jason, of Ellsworth; niece, Amy McNeal and her son, Justin, of Ellsworth; nephew, S.R. Joshua DeSalle, serving in Silverdale, Wash.; niece, Megan DeSalle of Windham; nephews, Robert and Tyrell Brown of Windham; niece, Cecelia Talbot; nephew, Javonn Winfield of Fairfield; niece, Gwyneth and her husband, Leigh Hagan, of Reston, Va.; nephew, Ian McClure also of Reston, Va.; niece, Megan O’Shaughnessy of Newton, Iowa; and nephew, Brendan O’Shaughnessy of McAllen, Texas. Michael will also be missed by his aunts and uncles and the many other members of his extended family and his close circle of friends.

He was predeceased by his father, Charlie McNeal.
