FARMINGTON – Eva S. Brann, 92, of New Sharon, died Thursday, June 22, at Pinewood Terrace surrounded by her loving family and extended family of Pinewood Terrace.

She was born in Archibald Settlement, New Brunswick, Canada, on Aug. 26, 1913, a daughter of William and Helen McLean Stanger. She graduated from New Sharon schools in the Class of 1931, and married Lester G. Brann on Oct. 14, 1931. He died Feb. 21, 1993.

She was well-known to many as “Gram the Donut Lady,” at her granddaughters store in Belgrade Lakes where she worked for many years. Her personal pride in her piemaking skill was a drawing card to the Methodist Church fair booth and monthly church suppers. Every Christmas, her children and grandchildren looked forward to her handmade socks and her beautifully crafted doilies.

She was an active member of the New Sharon United Methodist Church and the Women’s Society as well as a lifemember of Messalunskit Chapter 170, Order of the Eastern Star. After the death of her father, she took over as treasurer of the Methodist church for many years.

One of her greatest joys was following and helping her husband with their little race horse, Sandy River Belle, during the summer months and traveling to Florida in the winter months , where they enjoyed the warmer climate with family and friends.

She is survived by a son, Wendell Brann and his wife, Helen; two daughters, Vernie Heald and her husband, Lloyd, and Helen Ames and her husband, David, all of New Sharon and a daughter, Joyce Day and her husband, Gary, of Belgrade Lakes; 14 grandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren; a sister, Laura Webber of Farmington; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by three sisters and their spouses, Barbara and Chester Mason, Margaret and Lucius Chandler and Vivian and William Buchanan; as well as brothers-in-law, Richard Oliver and Robert Webber; and several nieces and nephews.
