LEWISTON – Maria Cecilia Oliveira, 79, of 102 Campus Ave., and formerly of Scribner Blvd., died Wednesday, June 21, at d’Youville Pavilion with her family by her side after a courageous battle with cancer.

She was born in Portugal on Dec. 30, 1926, the daughter of Manuel and Rosalina (Sousa) Lima and had been a resident of this community since January 1993. She was educated in Portugal.

She married Manuel M. Oliveira in April of 1947, and he died on Jan. 5, 2005.

She was a homemaker for all of her life and a dedicated grandmother, having raised all of her grandchildren. She enjoyed cooking, gardening and watching her international soap operas.

She was a parishioner of Holy Cross Church.

She is survived by three daughters, Maria Furtado and her husband, Tibiero, of Reading, Mass., Mina Pacheco and her husband, Jose, of Lewiston and Anna Raposo and her husband, Louis, of New Bedford, Mass.; one son, Mario J. Oliveira of New Bedford, Mass.; one sister, Theresa Santos of New Bedford, Mass.; one brother, Gilbert Lima of Winthrop, Mass.; five grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; two great-grandchildren on the way; and many nieces and nephews.
