PERU – Philip S. Tapley Sr., 71, formerly of Westbrook, died Sunday, June 18, at his home.

He was born May 28, 1935, in Westbrook, a son of Joseph H. and Frances E. Welch Tapley. He was raised and educated in Westbrook and lived here most of his life. He served in the U.S. Army for three years and the National Guard for six years.

He had been employed by the S.D Warren Co. for 39 years, before retiring. He enjoyed the outdoors, hunting, fishing and canoeing. He really enjoyed taking his children and grandchildren out into and showing them nature.

He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Jo-Anne Pearson Tapley of Peru; a son, Paul Tapley of Sanford; four daughters, Donna Eidsath of Olympia, Wash., Cheryl Morin of Andover, Deborah King of Cornish and Dianna Tripp of Raymond; and 12 grandchildren.

He was predeceased by a son, Philip Jr., in 1996.

The family would like to thank the staff of Hospice, for their care and help in taking care of Philip.
